Every woman who wants a doula deserves to have one. If you feel that you would like to discuss the doula services in more detail, or if you have specific questions, please feel free to contact Gina at 720.319.0135 or e-mail here.
Doula Package includes:
- 2-3 prenatal visits to get to know each other, clarify birth plan, clarify definition of roles of partner, doula and any additional support persons who will attend the birth.
- 24-hour availability for the time from 2 weeks before the estimated due date until the birth
- Continuous, caring support at the labor and birth, starting at home, birth center, or hospital and ending after a contented baby is latched on well to the breast
- 2-3 postpartum visits to discuss the birth, discuss postpartum issues and newborn issues.
Fees for doula services operate on a needs-based, sliding scale. Please inquire for further details. Barter is also available. If you would like my services and you have a return service or product to offer that is of comparable value, please contact Gina to see what can be arranged.
Holistic Childbirth Education Series:
Most expectant parents who have been seeking prenatal care and are anticipating a hospital birth enroll in a childbirth class of some sort. Most people take classes at the hospital and wonder why they should consider an independent class instead.
Classes offered specifically by an institution or a particular health care provider or organization are seldom in a position to provide evidence-based, hands-on, whole-person (holistic) classroom experiences. The format of a 16-hour class such as the one Moonbabies Birth Services offers allows the time to address the psychological, emotional and spiritual needs of students.
Taking an independent class can offer the opportunity to learn the questions each family can ask for their health and wellbeing, and gives families tools for growth and empowerment during labor and birth.
In this class:
- Families will come away with a clear understanding of how birth works.
- Families will learn how to feel empowered and supported through the birthing process at home, at a birth center, or in a hospital.
- Families will develop effective strategies for the postpartum period.
- Breastfeeding is covered briefly in this class, but a separate breastfeeding class or series of La Leche League meetings is highly recommended.
This class is suitable for births in hospitals, freestanding birth centers and homes, with tools essential to births of any outcome. The class focuses on the processes, not the unique places where each of us ends our birth journeys. The class is adaptable for those with special needs or a unique situation. As with all of Moonbabies Birth Services’ offerings, the classes are also culturally sensitive and specifically appropriate for those in non-traditional or alternative style families. This class is in the Birthing From Within model, using tools and techniques learned in a Birthing From Within workshop.
Class topics include:
- Labor and birth physiology
- Support during childbirth from partners and care providers
- Comfort measures - above and beyond the patterned breath
- Medical and alternative solutions to unexpected events in pregnancy and labor
- Consumerism and informed decision-making skills and practice
- Cesarean section, VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) and cesarean prevention
- Preparation for the babymoon and transition to parenthood
- Basic breastfeeding information
Cost for classes vary, depending upon location and specifics - some classes are four-session, some are six-session. In-home classes are also available, as well as in-hospital emergent classes for mothers on bedrest. Please call Gina at 720.319.0135 or email via the contact page for any additional information.
